Help Us Grow Our Art Collection

We are looking for just 44 people to donate $20 so we can purchase these two beautiful works of art by Moe Lalonde and make them part of our collection. We’ve already had 46 generous people donate.

Forest Cathedral II: an indoor or outdoor piece that captures sunlight, casting a beautiful glow. It would be our first sculpture!

Cherry Bench: with a river of green running thru it, this is part of our history as it was made from a tree that used to stand at the library

Please help us reach our goal by donating through PayPal or Venmo or dropping off a check or cash at the front desk. Deadline to donate is July 31.

Thank you for keeping the Kirkland Town Library a beautiful place to connect with others and art created in our community!

Read Around The Clock

Thursday, August 22
from 7 p.m. until Midnight

Our annual 24-hour reading marathon has been caught in a time warp! This year, we’ll be reading at six different stations throughout the Library for four hours. (Six stations times four hours equals 24 hours of reading!)

Whether you’d like to read, listen, or both, you can choose as many stations as you like and enjoy a variety of stories all connected by the theme of time travel. Click here to see the schedule and to sign up for a slot.

After we’re done reading, we’ll celebrate with a dance party that ends at the stroke of midnight. This event is sponsored by The Waterville Times.

Teen Lit Bags

Teens aged 13-18 can sign up to receive a bag full of goodies from the library! You’ll receive two library books selected just for you, a craft, snacks, and more! Click here to request one.

Summer Reading: Adventure Begins at Your Library

For Kids

Download a reading log or stop in the Library to pick one up and get a Read & Bead necklace. Then, start reading! Keep track of the time you have read and mark it on the log. Throughout the summer, visit the library and show us your log. You’ll earn beads for each box you fill in and you can add them to your necklace. We’ll have a new special collector’s bead every Friday! When you’ve filled in all the boxes, you’ve read 10 hours and completed our reading challenge. Bring your completed log back to the library to get all of the beads you’ve earned plus a ticket for a prize raffle.

For Teens

Teens can pick up their own reading log. Cross off one box for every 30 minutes you read. When you’ve filled all the boxes, you’ve read all 10 hours. Complete the back of the card and return it to the KTL to enter a raffle and earn a gift card to a local business! (There is a limit of one gift card per teen.)

Prizes

Kids and teens participating in the Summer Reading Program have a chance to win some fantastic prizes at the end of the summer! All teens who complete their reading log can earn a gift card to the Clinton Cider Mill, Cremeria, or Tony’s Pizza (one per person). Plus, enter a raffle to win a Lululemon bag, a reading pillow, a Yogibo beanbag chair, or a gift card to Bookshop.org. In addition to earning beads, kids can enter to win a Barnes & Noble gift card, Picasso Tiles, an American Girl doll, a Lego 3-in-1 Creator set, a fossil dig kit, a stomp rocket, or paint sticks and a pad. Be sure to bring in your logs and let us know what you’ve been reading this summer!

Clinton Reading Challenge

The five library competitors are moving through the summer at record-breaking speeds. After eight weeks of reading, the Clinton Public Library in Iowa holds the lead with 7,021 hours. Coming up behind them quickly in the inside lane is New York’s Kirkland Town Library with 6,561 hours. The race for third is close with the Bigelow Free Public Library (Massachusetts) with 4,262 hours and the Clinton County (Pennsylvania) Libraries with 3,701. Past winner North County Branch Library of the Hunterdon County Library System (New Jersey) is bringing up the rear with 2,465 hours.

Join the team! All you have to do is keep track of how long you spend reading each week. You can read books, magazines, or newspapers, listen to an audiobook, or anything you can borrow from the library. It counts! Click here to download a Clinton Challenge Reading Log, grab a paper copy from inside the library, or use your own method.

Every Friday through September 6, let us know how long you’ve read during the week. You can snip this week from your reading log and drop it off, email your total to clinton@midyork.org, or fill out this online form. We’ll tally the hours and see how we stack up against the competition. Every week that you submit your time, you’ll be entered in a raffle to win a fun prize at the end of the summer.

Check back for updates throughout the summer. Thanks for joining our team and helping us show the country that this Clinton loves to read!
