Book Donations End on June 30

Thanks to the generosity of people donating their books this year, our Friends Committee members have been moving A LOT of books. Please observe this temporary procedure, which will be in place until we stop accepting donations on June 30.

If you are a Town of Kirkland resident, they will happily accept donations of your “like new,” in sellable condition books, DVDs, and CDs.

If you don’t live in Kirkland, you must have a Mid York Library System card and have the Kirkland Town Library as your home library. They will happily accept your items with a $10 donation to offset our costs.

Book donations will only be accepted when the library is open. Donations should be in sturdy bags or boxes that weigh 30 lbs. or less.

When you come, please stop in at the front desk to gain access to the donation shed. Any items left outside or on the library’s back porch cause a huge headache for staff. They will either be returned to you or immediately thrown away. Please note that staff are not able to help with any unloading/carrying of donation boxes.

Thank you for your understanding as we sort and organize the donations for the sale on July 12, 13 & 14.

If you are donating books, please observe these guidelines.

We accept (in like-new condition) hardcover books, paperback books, audio books on CD, puzzles, music on CD, and DVDs.

We do not accept encyclopedias, textbooks, video tapes, magazines, vinyl records, cassette tapes, Readers Digest books, or smelly, crummy, torn, old books.

Please bring your items in a box no larger than a wine box.

You can also bring used books to Thrifty Shopper in the New Hartford Shopping Center or to the Better World Books Box at the Mid York Library System Headquarters, 1500 Lincoln Avenue, Utica.
